This gorge near us has these pools called Pou Clar and as you can see the locals make good use of them in the summer. On the outskirts of Ontinyent, Valencia.

Some great roads @billz, from Javea you can drive over the mountains through Pedreguer towards Alcoy or Cocentaina and then down through various routes to Bocairent (worth a visit) and down to Ontinyent.

Font de la Figuera is just up the road from here, road up there on Sunday morning before stopping for a drink in Fontanares dels Alforins which is my nearest village.

Looks absolutely beautiful. Trouble is I'd want to sit in the shade and drink wine. Maybe give the driving a miss.

A lot of driving there @billz, but the views and scenery over near Planes and in the Mariolas are beautiful. If you are taking the road from Pou Clar, Ontinyent towards Fontanares you pass within about 200 yards from here!

Had a ride up to Bocairent and then up to Banyeres de Mariola this morning @billz. Bit of a climb in the hot sun for a knackered old git ! I think your route will cover some of those roads .

Your route over from Alcoy to Guadalest (worth a stop) is the way we used to drive over to Benidorm @billz, although if we we're in a hurry we take the main road past Alcoy through the tunnels.They weren't built when we first lived here. Yours truly,Guadalest,2004.
