I've got a rattle over my right shoulder when my rear office goes over a bump. Thinking it could be the top mount?
I'm not sure if I'm being paranoid but feels like the tyre is higher into the well on that side too.

Could be a broken spring, not uncommon and easy to fix. Just jack it up and have a look.

Just done them on my sons z3......easy........remove fixings from rear carpet and pull back to expose top mounts.......6mm spanner on top of shock together with a 14mm and crack the bolt and remove.......remove 2 x 13mm bolts holding mount.........jack up car and mount and shock top of shock will appear in the wheel arch........remove old mount and replace with new.........let jack down slowly and locate mount back in original holes and do up bolts......lower car to the deck and do up nut on top of shock.......job done.......15 mins per side at most

Pulled the carpet back inside the car and the top mount feels solid. If I'm correct there should be wiggle room if it was nackered?
So it's not a mount issue if that's the case. Went over a little pot hole yesterday when I had to take the car out and got a pretty big bang but like I say top mount is solid

Saying that... would I be able to wiggle it if the weight of the car is on it or would I need to Jack it first

Depend how worn it is the rattle os the strut the body normally and the stresses when driving may be more than you hand can produce.
I would jack up and see its not a big job to remove them to check:thumbsup:

If you have already got the new mounts, it would be worth changing them....as said, easy job and would eliminate that part if it is not fixed

I don't have any new parts for anything yet.
Only worry is I'm driving 600mile next weekend.
But car feels normal to drive. Just a slight rattle over bumps and a bang over potholes

Have you checked your anti roll bar drop links ? The cars low may be a bad link?

Just been for a run with the carpet pulled back and it's squeaky but that's it. No rattle or knocking from the mount. I plan on changing them over winter anyway might look to order some see if I can get them fitted Thursday night

Always be very careful with the jack and when you lean underneath, be sure you secured the car with something else too!
Safety first!
