The fact you have 3 cylinders misfiring means it’s an upstream error that’s affecting all at once.

Quite probably as @colb says an air leak. You need to look round all the rubber in the engine bay and track down where it is. I would start with the hoses that come out the back of the air box and into the engine. But for sure you need to attend to the issue @colb has pointed out too - which might be your only issue.

And I’d be inclined to say no camshaft error, no fault there. It’s usually pretty good at reporting when it’s knackered.

Have you cleared all (that will clear) and driven it to see what comes back Al?

It's possible that there some "historic" codes stored which no longer are viable mate.

I’d be inclined to think the ABS faults may be historic. Or intermittent enough they will clear for now.

Not sure about the engine errors as it is running rough currently isn’t it? Even if they do clear it doesn’t mean you don’t have a fault. Air leaks are notorious for coming and going.

A method of pumping smoke into the indiction system of the engine to spot any air leaks from duff hoses or damaged componants that allow unmetered air into the system. Unmetered air entering the vaccum system will be reported to the engine management system and it will report a lean condition. The ecu will then introduce more fuel into the engine to richen the mixture, your code indicates that it is doing this and has reached the max amount that it can add. If you could view the live data relating to the fuel trims when engine running you will no doubt see them at max level. Rough running can also be a symptom of this misfueling fault.
Here is a thread describing what we did to a 2.2 recently that had air leaks and misfueling issues and the use of the smoke machine to track down the air leaks.

Also check the exhaust tailpipe Al, if as Col thinks it is at max fuel trim the exhaust will likely be a bit sooty.

The smoke test sounds a bit arcane (and archaic) but actually it's brilliant. I'll wager that more Z3s on this forum have small air leaks than don't.

I get an error code for a cam position sensor signal but the sensor is triggering when i test it. So with the sensor out, i put some metal in front of it and the injectors fire so not really sure what the issue is. Bit of a ghetto method i found on you tube, probably not the most accurate lol
Got a rough idle at start up and slow response but i do have a intermittent TPS problem too.
Electronics grrrr :bashhead:

I'm not clear on exactly how a camshaft sensor works. I think it's a binary high/low device but all the same needs to switch cleanly at the right time to produce the correct waveform, like this I believe:

So just because the camshaft sensor is producing output it might not be the right output.

I've done several exhaust sensors with no noticeable change in performance. I've only ever done one inlet sensor and the car I did it on drove like a rocket ship after compared with any other 2.2. So I have a strong suspicion that it's not just a case of working or not working. But there's shades inbetween.

Hopefully one of our more learned engine/electronic experts can comment on this.

Okay so codes cleared and read again. Only Cylinder 2 misfiring and misfiring relevant to exhaust gas.

This as well as an oily spark plug from cylinder 2 means what exactly? Same rocker cover gasket issue or something else?

Actually in Nefyn. My, that took a while.

If it was mine I'd swap the oily plug for one of the others and take it for a good run. If the plug that comes out of no.2 after a drive is oily then the problem is with the cylinder, if the plug that you took out of no.2 and moved to another cylinder is still oily then it's the plug itself.

If your car has individual pencil could Al you can also swap a couple and read codes again. Process of elimination really.

No he means the coils that fit on top of the plugs.
I did suggest you do this in an earlier post on page 1. If the misfire moves from No2 when you mover the coil to another cylinder it narrows the fault down to a bad coil. If this is the case then fit a replacement for the suspect coil.
