Fiddle about with a screwdriver and a Blow down a Mc Donald's straw (sounds rude) but will give it a go.
Just used a watchmaker screw driver and a bit of hot water mate, cleared first time.

I have the same problem. I've cleared out all the crap and used WD40 spray with the straw directly down the hose until it flows out the hose onto the road but it still retains water.

Any dirt left in the pipe will allow surface tension in any water to cause water to stay in there. Won't take long for it to become blocked again.WD40, while water repellent will attract dirt to stick again I would have thought.
Hot water and some detergent and some way of forcing any dirt out may provide a longer term solution.
