Hi guys I ready need some help locating a diff cover for my 3.0 z3 I was replacing the rear bushes with powerflex ones I noticed a crack in the diff housing I went on to replace the bush an the crack got worse I had to build the car back up as my mate lent me his four poster jack he needs it clear for Monday morning!! My problem is living in Northern Ireland is the availability of parts I rang every car breaker locally no luck. I hope you guys can help me out will some information does a1.9. 2.8 diff housing fit a 3.0 if so do you where I can locate one i really want to get the wee car back on the road I am missing all this good weather !!thanks for listening. Rodney

Had a look in Real Oem under my 2.8 chassis number and it appears the rear transmission cover is the same to every model bar the ///M and the 3.0 not sure if they share one but here is the info...

Subsequently looked for the 3.0 years 99-02 and unfortunatly it appears a unique part....

could it be welded? maybe a local fab place could have a go :)

The news is not good with my differential housing for my 2000 3.0 I drove the car to my mates garage after my woes with the cracked housing again thanks guys for your advice and information this is a friendly place !! we proceeded to put the car on the four poster jack and started to remove the housing to investigate the extent of the crack and as I started to remove the bolts of the rear shocks to my horror the b**** thing snapped In two after a lot of swearing I checked the broken part at some time in the life some stupid b*****b had repaired it with plastic metal !!!
I now don't have any confidence in getting the part welded .
I'm a dilemma in getting a replacement part bmw is looking a small fortune to a new part plus week and half delivery from Germany money up front the woes for living in Northern Ireland
I am just checking if any one on this Fourm knows any one breaking a 3.0 zed bmw z3 part number bmw 33117507770
Any help would be much appreciated

Hi @Rodney Blair sorry, Canadian sites came up empty as did eBay.com. I'll try a few breakers in the USA I've used before with good results. In the meantime I would at least try either An epoxy or weld to keep you on the road until the right part comes along. I'd also contact an eBay UK seller by the name fleabagmonkeyface who has 34 Z's. Maybe he can help you out, nothing to lose in checking. Good luck! JIM

@Rodney Blair

Bolt the pieces of plate to a piece of wood, then get it welded. No body can see it when its fitted and it will be a lot cheaper and easier than getting a new one

How far did you get with this? I can look around this area as there are several leads I can follow. Frankie

I believe he's still looking @FRANKIE! None of my breaker contacts in the USA have one so good luck with your contacts. I'm afraid welding may be the best option for now until the proper part can be found. JIM
