Pi22 yUP - The next phase, supercharging

A good tidy up in the middle of a big job somehow makes it go better when you resume I find.

I manage some time in the shed today. I did start to weld the front drivers patch but due to restricted access I opted for fitted the front subframe, new wishbones, engine mounts, arb stuff, eccentric powerflex bushes, wheel bearings and vented disks. This will let me get the car turned round and have plenty room for welding. I picked up some black side vents that I had to fit as a trial.

Bmw oem panel and its made in the USA

Ive finished the front brakes off. I've a few brake pipes to make, fit the abs sensors and bleed the system. The car had a few code of abs stuff including the pump. I am in 2 minds about trying the pump now all the sensors and rings have been replaced or just change it before I bother bleeding... but first I need to get the front wheels joined together again.

The wheels are also away getting some rubber fitted, so all going well I'll see it on all 4s today

A fresh set of Toyo TR1s fitted... I run these on my e30 and I find them superb in the rain. Something that's needed up here in Scotland

I have ended up buying a 75kmiles engine from a buddy, so once I am finished with the suspension and brake side of things I'll swap the engine. The radiator is fubar and it's not got much water in it so I am not going to waste much time investigating. While the engine did seem to run sweet for the few minutes I've heard it, it's also 150kmiles so worth doing i think.

The devil makes work for idle hands. I know your not supposed to paint when it's cold but I gave it a bash anyway. The clear coat didn't go so well. It's going to need another attempt which is a pity as the colours pretty good.

Wow, this is looking so nice and shiny! Really good stuff.

Quite like the poor boys 'black hole' show glaze too. Makes my cars paint look almost reasonable after a few passes with the applicator.

Can't be too much left to do before hitting the roads In summer? Engine swap for next winter?

The list is getting smaller, I've still some welding to do but other than that it's fit the back box, couple of brake pipes, radiator, flush fluids and refit the seats... a couple of days work if I apply myself.

Managed a few jobs on the zed today.

Front abs sensors are in, finished up the brake pipes and fitted the exhaust.

I managed to get the brakes bled as well, I was almost all the way there and my ezeibleed cap cracked and leaked everywhere. It's now in the bin! I'll order a vacuum pump as the speed at which it emptied was crazy.

Roped in the wife once she got home from work to drive the brake pedal.

I also replaced the intake boot for a whole 1 that I had kicking about the shed.

The split one before it was changed

I guess the previous owner was a joiner.

Now off the dollys and tucked away until next time. I've messed with the coilovers and it's low at the front but not quite as low as i was expected at the back end, ive basically removed the adjusters and just left the spring and bump stops.. its still potentially too low to drive out the shed haha.

Until next time
