I realise after shopping on eBay tonight that some sellers on there are also being affected by this PB issue.

Tony.
Sounds great Gary, i assume your PB account has to be open and not private for this to work?As an update to this, I may have found a way around PB ransoming all your hotlinked images. There is a bit of software I can add to the forum which will take a copy of the image from PB and then upload it and attach it to the thread.
This effectively means that a copy of the image becomes hosted here, and any affected threads are then fixed. This assumes that the PB account hasn't already been deleted of course as the photos will have been completely deleted.
I'm going to try and install it tomorrow and test out whether it's practical to run or not!
The pictures will need to be accessible. If you find the image URL from the IMG tags, copy and paste it in to a browser without the tags and if it loads it will be able to download it.Sounds great Gary, i assume your PB account has to be open and not private for this to work?
Tim, I've just bumped the max size to 15MB, so if you get chance to try itcan we get the forum to accept my photos (10mb+) or is there a cap for a reason?
Nope still failed? Even though the image is small enough?Tim, I've just bumped the max size to 15MB, so if you get chance to try it
How do I give this a go?Tim, I've just bumped the max size to 15MB, so if you get chance to try it

I'll have another look, didn't think there was as I set the max size and the dimensions the images should be resized to.Are there any dimensional limits
Different issue to yours Martin, this is about uploading large images directly. How do I give this a go?
It's a mixed bag Brian. I've installed it and run on a couple of threads and it's does what it says - finds the link and if it can find the file it uploads it here, and embeds it in the link. However the test I ran on some photobucket heavy posts didn't work that well, as if the account has been cancelled it downloads the PB warning image and embeds that. So it does what it should, but still ends up with the broken images. Got some more thinking to do on this! How did the test go Gary?
Yep got all that thanks Gaz.Ah, may have figured the large file upload issue. There are two places where a max upload value is set, within the forum software (set at 15mb) and also with the PHP code handler which the software sits on top of (set at 200mb). Both of these values are fine.
Having done a bit of thinking I've found a third setting which relates to NGINX (high performance web server and reverse proxy) which is something we use to make the forum this quick. I've found out that has a setting as well, but I can't get to that one so I need to have a chat with James who manages the server.
Oh, and I didn't need to put all the technical detail in, I just did because @Grumps likes to know whats going on
Sadly it's a kick back to a time when these companies provided a useful service beyond forum posting Mike. Before they became overly commercial and money grabbing they were fine. I had a PB account and used it for a variety of uses beyond forum posting. It was always a ticking bomb, but we were reasonably well insulated against the damage because people can easily upload here. Ho hum!why would anyone want to use Photobucket to post on this forum?
Tony means that a lot of forums do not have direct upload like on here so you have to use a hosting site .Haven't a clue what your all babbling on about
