I forgot about insurance Pete. I'll have to remember to ring them when I change mine. Hopefully mine will be on for the lakes to.

Go for V4 KED Bruce. By the way, we relalised that the M55 part of our new reg represents Mary and her year of birth ( I bet she won't like me posting that....lol)

if an auction 2-3 weeks normal purchase from dvla 1-2 weeks
Then you have to transfer it to your car
if you have a local dvla near you the same day if not another 1o days

if you have a local dvla near you the same day if not another 1o days
When I transferred my plate on to Rosie (from my 2.0), I went to the local DVLA office and they didn't do it same day. They sent all the paper work to Swansea, and it took 10 days.

Perhaps it's different for new purchases?

I got my retention certificate 3 days after I bought it. Should be able to go to Peterborough and get it sorted same day.

The DVLA are changing their procedures.
At the moment, if you have a number on a retention certificate you can transfer it to the recipient vehicle at a Local Office same day.
If you want to put a number on retention, or transfer it between vehicles, the docs must go via Swansea and they are quoting 2-3 weeks.
