Disconnected my battery for 7 years, still great two years after re-start, incidentally the engine started immediately and ran perfect with 7 year old petrol.
Surprised the hell out of me !

Was that a BMW battery? I still have one of them from the Z but now in a 4cyl car - I’m not sure if it’s original but it has to be at least 10yrs old or more and still works perfect on a car that does short runs only!

Not BMW cannot remember exactly what year I replace the original but now fitted with YUASA ( They have been making batteries since 1913)
Works for me.

Hi Tony. Is it ok to connect a smart charger to the battery without first disconnecting the battery from the car? Is there any danger of frying the car’s electrics/computers etc? (Or is that just scaremongering from the days before smart chargers?)

Three Ferraris, an Alfa romeo and now my Z3 I have never had to disconnect my battery when using/connecting a conditioner .
