Wow, that's when a warranty proves it's worth! At that price I'm guessing it was a DCT box?

Nice one... You were lucky you didn't get a jobs worth who picked up on any mods or it may of invalidated the warranty claim!:whistle:

Good news Q, the prices the dealers come up with are at times unbelievable. If this was out of warranty then the car would be written off because of this.
 
The BMW extended warranty is incredible. You can take it out anytime up to 100,000 miles regardless of age. And it covers wear and tear apart from service items.

And the price is not loaded as the car gets older/higher mileage. For more complex cars it's £100-£150 a month and that's for comprehensive cover. Which for a modern vehicle looks very reasonable to me.

If it's not been BMW serviced throughout its life there is a take on check apparently.
