OUT OF CURIOSITY

have you reset it since the pre-tentioners have been changed? even if you repair the fault the light will remain on until reset.
all sounds very familiar:) usual chain of events, cables trapped at some point in the seat runners, its amazing how many z3 have suffered the same issue, i should imagine the guy who designed this part has been sacked.
 
Yeah its behind the console i believe but as mentioned unlike abs lights that reset the airbag light doesn't it needs a reset.
