Be careful Tony. The Trents up again this weekend!
The Trent is well up today, and I suspect it is going to rise further. The Fossedyke Canal is full.

You can just see the top of the lock gate.

And it looks like the Lock Keeper is safe for now.
However the River Trent is well up.again.

They're not pumping from the Canal into the Trent so it's only going up.

Back on the Canal side of the Lock it is about full.

Tony.
We've been down at the NEC all day and our route took us through Rugeley. The Trent is well up there as well, in fact we said we have never seen it that high. All the fields were flooded to the extent you couldn't see where the river was.

Someone posted some pictures on FB from Laughterton (next village) of it starting to spill over the first flood bank to fill up to the secondary one behind the White Swan.

Goodness! I drive through Laughterton! Let’s hope it starts to ease very soon.

I wonder how the village got its name?

Thanks for this Tony. Raining again here today and the local Victorian park has, for the first time in known history, flooded. How’s it by you?

Flooding seems to be becoming so common and widespread. People have always lived close to rivers. And there’s nowhere to move homes away to, even a short distance, especially with constraints on new buildings. Only massive structural changes to allow flood prone areas to be returned to agriculture and nature will reduce the occurrence of flooded homes and businesses. So radical I can’t see it happening.
Build homes on floating pontoons?
