My grille cowl doesn't fit the aperture in the body at the bottom. It fits at both ends but tapers to a approximately 6mm gap in the centre. I knew this would be the case and was planning to fill the gap.
However now I have trial fitted my front bumper it doesn't look bad to me. At present you can just see the packers under the foglight mounts but I can easily 'get rid' of those if needs be.

If I fill the gap, it will be difficult to profile the new edge and the cowl actually sits out by a few mm in the centre, so may actually look worse.

Looking at the pictures; would you be inclined to do something with it, or leave it as it is?

Looks OK to me, I could live with it, and to be fair the WOW factor of the finished car will take away from any small fitment issues I would say.

Have to agree with the rest leave it looks fine .
Your only picking on it as you know its there most others wouldn't give it a second look.

To be honest the bling of all the stainless does rather distract the eye to other things. I would like to close the gap as I know it's there. I will have a word with my sprayers soon and see what they think.

At the end of the day you buy em to drive or you buy em to pose - I suspect you are in the latter camp. Nowt wrong with that but just make sure you address the appropriate target audience when posing the 'what next' scenario

The only reason I asked was to get a different perspective on it. I spend a lot of my time looking at, and doing, this car so I have become 'blinkered' by things being 'just right'. It is a kit car, so I have learned there is no such thing as 'just right', or perfect.

Actually I am in a third camp. I am doing it to get satisfaction of doing it well. Therefore I will get a new stainless cowl made to fit the aperture correctly. Annoying, but necessary IMO.

Like I said you already knew the answer - some choose the easy road unfortunately the rest aren’t that easily persuaded.

The thing that would bother me is the unequal positioning of the lamp brackets relative to the grille,

It's the grille slats which are uneven. The light brackets are in the correct place. Weird thing is that the centre slat (with the emblem on) is pretty much spot on central, so the vertical slats must be at differing distances.

With the lights in place; they are quite big @ 6" diameter, it looks OK.

I can't get EVERYTHING re-made that is wrong, it will cost a fortune and I may as well start again!
