In the south of England where I grew up - the fizzy drinks were called Corona and yes you got some money back for the bottles.

We used to get Rockall's ice cream van round on Wednesday evenings in the summer. The came right out from Hibaldstow near Brigg out to Marton, 5 miles south of Gainsborough. That's a long way!. Also a fish and chip bus.
