The other day I said to my grandson ......... ;)
I've got you some opal fruits in the cupboard ....... :)
He looked at me confused :eek:
He said are there so new sweets out nanny ....... :confused:
We both looked at each other ......;)
Then I realised what I'd said :whistle:
How many years have opal fruits been called starburst =))
I knew what I meant .......
What's in a name any-way they are still opal fruits to me ......;)
Like snickers are marathons lol ........ :whistle:

Maybe because they are mouth watering and full of flavour and a bright colour =))
But if you google opal it's nothing like I'm describing =))

When opal fruits came out ....... ;)
The company ran a competition to name the sweets ;)
Peter Pfeffer won the competition and he was given £5.00 for his prize ;)
So now we know why opal fruits are or we're called opal fruits :)

My dad used to bring us Opal Fruits, Spangles and Blue Bird Toffees when he got paid on Fridays.
Used to love Barley Twist sticks too

Yummy the old sweets are the best , ;)
Barley twist I can remember them yummy ;)
But when they bring them back round again they never taste the same ;)
What was the chocolate called with the toffee in the middle ....... :)

Just came across a caramel bar it was something like that ;)
But couldn't find what I was looking for ;)
But I did come across chocolate crisp that was another favourite :)
