ok fogies

Quite a life hazard , this history Frankie!

The two stroke fascinates me since ever...the sound and the smell are addictive.
My first two stroke was a...car: IFA F8 1954, made in DDR. I bought the car in '83 and was able to drive it in '87.
I still have the car and last year , after a long sleep and a new face, I ran it again.
And because I started the other way around, now I'm heading to two strokes on two wheels!
In the last two years I've rebuilt two mopeds Simson SR2E, 1960 and 1964 (also DDR production).
The next step is a Jawa 250 (353 model, 1960) for which I have to take the bike driver licence!
It's on my bucket list, until I make 60! What can I say....?

That sure is a gorgeous car Dan, I bet you love it.:)

Tony.

///M is a compromise? I think that comment will upset a few on here!

After testing a few different softops I chose my current car and love it, unfortunately after seeing too many bikers not surviving needless accidents not of there doing had put me off for a while. A roadster at least gives me that sense exposed to the elements plus it's great fun to drive.

Mine was a 1949 Excelsior 197ccthat I had in 1961. After just a few weeks with it being very difficult to start I went to Pride & Clark in Stockwell and purchased a 1955 650cc Triumph T110 in two tone bonevile blue. In 1963 rebuilt engine to Bonevile spec. twin carbs, high lift cambs 8.1 or 9 high comp pistons. It was one of the fastes bikes about then.

We had them over here. IT WAS THE BIKE TO OWN.

I had a 1978 T140E Bonneville but to be honest it was the worst bike I ever owned. I had it at the same time that I had a BMW R80 so it wasn't really a fair comparison.

For me the last decent triumphs were the very early 60s ones.
Gave up bikes in 1964 and bought a car, came off a few times over the years but a very nasty one in June 1961 but I carried on for three years,, great fun with your shirt blowing in the wind, happy days

70's very old?Well some of us must be really very old! However,I did have a Yamaha FSEI 50 Smoke Cloud which was followed by a pleasant Honda 175 twin.I did enough on that to realize that if didn't stick to four wheels I would probably end up stuck to wall.
By the way Frankie,if a BMW badge is what you noticed on that photo you must be older than I thought.I keep looking and I can't see a BMW badge.Perhaps I'm looking in the wrong place.
Ken.

Naturally, the first thing that hits you right in the face looking at this picture is the 'BMW' tag............

WHAT BMW TAG??

Thought it was a bubble car . . .

Tony.

I didn't have any two strokes unfortunately.

2 stroke free zone for me (less my strimmer/hedge trimmer). Just something that never crossed my path, oh, and the realisation that I would've progressed onto something MUCH more powrful and ended up wrapped round a lampost/boil in the bag soup. :(

What a wonderful looking car it nust be just great to take her out on the road.

First and Last Bike was a Yamaha RD250, bought new in 1975, bought it in the winter and took it for a run for the first time with a group of friends, pulled in for a coffee just as it was going dark, looked back at my pride and joy to see my engine glowing red:eek:, got rid after a few months, decided it was not for me after nearly having what would have been almost certainly a fatal crash while overtaking a lorry, thankfully luck was on my side that day.
