Nitrile rubber, bulk pack. I like that idea. I had to get mine from BMW, made from platinum I think...

Nitrile is borderline with engine oil temperatures. You should always use VITON if you can. Four times the price, so makes a big difference to car companies, but turns 5p into 20p for us mere mortals.

I have always replaced the small 'O' rings, ut was once asked by the parts person at my local dealer what they were for. He then checked on their use, and found that the dealership had used a few thousand filters during the year, but only 10 small 'O' rings - which had been ordered by me!

So mush for the boast of one's car having a Full BMW Service History . . .
