This might have mentioned before, but I'll mention again because of significance of failing ones..

I gave my 220k plus 99 Z3, the first oil change since I got it. Those two little o-rings were cream crackered. I don't think they had ever been changed. So I changed em. Now the oil light goes out immediately on startup, and everything than uses oil pressure seems to be working better, lifters, vanos, tensioners anything that relies on hydraulics really, the car in fact... If you have neglected yours, It might pay to look next oil change.... Just a heads up for those that may not be aware of their importance..

Oh and I pulled fuse 13 & 18 and cranked her over a bit before putting them back for startup...

A whole lot of manufactures supply new "O" rings but BMW filters mostly do not. But they always give you a new copper washer for the sump plug! I wonder which is more important and expensive?

Has anyone ever bought an oil filter & had those o rings supplied in the kit?
I've always had to buy them separately from the dealers.

They just don't come the filters Gary, just the big one and the copper washer.

I'm pretty sure the last time I got an oil change kit from Opie these were included.

When I have bought thro' ECP, CP4L etc then the spindle `O' rings have always been included in the filter kit. Just checked my spares stock (sad on a Sunday I know:whistle:) and a Bosch P9108 has full set included. I recall if they fail the top gallery loses its' oil supply.

Well, I only got the coppers and the big o-ring with mine. I just happened to notice that the lower of the two smaller rings was completely knacked and the upper not much better, I can only assume from my understanding that a good proportion of pumped oil was going straight back to the sump...

Also Halfords “Technicians” don’t either. They don‘t even change the big one because it takes time.

Found at least one kit that had them but the price was maybe $20 more.
