Oil cooler and Fuel Tank Straps

Good work.

You need to change how the strap connects at the front. Direct contact between the stainless, and mild steel slot will cause some bi-metallic corrosion. The mild steel body will be anode and the environment down there is bad; water and salt. The mild steel will therefore corrode faster. I suggest you put a plastic strip between the two parts to electrically insulate. That will sort it.

I would also be interested in a set of these.

Interested in the drivers side strap please. Is there no way that this could be done in 2 pieces the straight piece at the back a separate piece to support the other piece?

I haven’t heard any more but my father and I are currently trying to design and make new straps. Which we indeed to make and sell.

Good design still watching with interest.

I will be purchasing a few sets for the Zedshed work.

I have other things to contend with recently, but been to see how things are progressing today and now back on track.

Both my zeds will need these soon. The 2.2 without a doubt.

Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Expect both mine will be in need of the as well.

Sorry wasn't being arsey, I don't need any, just curious as you have invested time in them. Nice to see someone tackling a common problem for benefit of all

Any updates on the fuel tank straps?

I have been a bit ‘distracted’ for the last couple of months, but I chased it up this week, but not good news as they have been so busy, they have not had the time to work on the development. Hoping to call in next week and have a chat about it.

I’m certainly interested in a pair as mine are well on there way of rusting away.

Is there any progress on getting these 2-part straps made? I’ve got an MOT advisory on mine and so definitely up for a pair ASAP

Just bought Z3 2.8 roadster, tank straps ok but padding compressed a lot and causing clunking noise
straps ok but need some protective treatment so would be very interested in set of the replacement straps

Hoping to get the prototypes sorted and in production in Jan - Feb.
In the meantime, I have a reel of rubber padding (which I got as a sample to try out on the new straps) So if you need any just PM me ( click on the envelope in the top right hand corner) with your address and I will send you some.
