Oil change

They buy their oil in dustbin sized cans at much better prices than we can get it and will charge you only for what they use or possibly even a flat rate
If only life were so simple Dean
You will see from my post above that I was charged £9.07/litre 2 years ago by an indy - and for a full 6.5 litres.
I've yet to get much more than 6 litres back* into ours as well so thats another £5 kerching to the garage.
It is still a useful source of profit for them as they probably pay less than half that for it.

*measure what comes out if you doubt this ;)

6 litres back

Interesting - is that including the filter too?

I'll be checking what they intend to charge me per litre next time before I add the service on at MOT time. It's due in March I think so I'll let you know.

If necessary I'll do it myself - got a pit in the garage so no great shakes. In fact if I can charge a tenner a litre plus labour I think I'll change careers! :ymdevil:

i did mine last thursday and i got exactly 5.8 liters out and 5.9 back in. The level is currently sat bang in the middle so theres evidently 600ml contained in the pump/pipes/sump/rockers.

i bought some castrol edge 5-30w from halfrauds. Cost nigh on £60 for 8L (comes in 4L cans for some reason). Combined with a new filter it cost allmost as much as a full oil change at a garage but atleast i know the oil and worksmanship is decent. While the people are here, whats the halfords trade card discount like and is it worth having some business cards made up in order to get one?

I also use the Castrol Edge 5w-30 but get it from opie or wherever is doing the discount :D
