Is what i'm thinking, they bounced off the post. No paint marks on the post though.
No, another car could not do that damage in that spot on your bonnet, got to have been a van or truck or maybe a 4x4.

Yes but only a glancing blow to the folded in mirror. The casing came off and lay in front of the van. Fortunately there was no damage and it pushed straight back on
Tosser! So annoying, Accidents can happen and do, that we can all accept, what we cannot accept are spineless individuals that haven't got the balls to do the right thing! Quite possibly a foreigner without insurance. I was hit by a Polish chap on the M1 in my truck a few months back. He admitted straight away he had no insurance and wasn't concerned about the fact his car was a write off! No damage to the truck.

Unless it's the light there seems to be a large scratch near the centre front of the bonnet. If it needs paint there's minimal benefit over having the existing bonnet beaten out and resprayed. Even if it was free it would need £50-£100 to hire a van and for the fuel. You won't get a Z3 bonnet in the back of a car not matter how big the car is.
It is an easy repair but it could cost anything from £200 in a back street competent bodyshop to £800 plus in a big body shop with a blend. Unless SMART repairs have evolved since I last asked 3-4 years ago you won't get a localised repair on a bonnet like you might around a corner on a bumper. The whole thing has to be sprayed.
I appreciate there are forum members with a lot more knowledge of painting than myself as a mere consumer so I'm sure one will be along in a minute if I'm mistaken.
If a simpler repair can be undertaken I'm all ears as I have virtually identical damage to resolve on my current project.
I know too well the feeling of going out and seeing the damage done by some jerkoff that just drives away leaving you with the aftermath!! Hope it works out for you, JIM

I'm so sorry to see that. It's an accident to the car and an injury to you when they take off without contacting you. It just leaves you with a sick feeling.
I told this story on the forum about 2 years ago but I'll repeat it as it's amusing and interesting. One day there was a knock on my front door. Upon answering, an angry woman told me that the frame that holds the mirror on my Ford pickup broke her side view mirror on her car. She told me that the frame sticks out too far and hit her side mirror as she drove by. She wanted me to pay for the repair. I looked at her in disbelief. I told her I wouldn't pay for her repair (there was no damage to my truck). She threatened to go home and tell her husband about it. I said she could do that if she wished but I wouldn't advise it. I pointed out that she ran into a legally parked vehicle. I told her she'd be safer to tell her husband that she went shopping and that when she came out of the store, her mirror was damaged. She looked at me for a few seconds, then turned around without saying another word and went back to her car and left. Frankie

Very gentle application of T-Cut took out the bulk of the scratch, now to decide on how to deal with the dent
