SO YOU'RE PREGNANT.....................................Hope you're OK. How do you actually feel? Have you had your shots? Booster? Hoping for the best...Frankie

That explains why you never arrived last week :P

Sorry Lee…. The last thing on my mind at the moment is shut lines…… =)) =)) =))
Trying to motivate myself to clean the garage. The boys were using a disc cutter while doing the front drive, with the garage door open….. you can imagine the state of everything in the garage!!

Had all the jabs, just feel tired and a bit lethargic. But need to motivate myself to do stuff rather than just sit around feeling crap.

Ooh!, that’s bad Malc. Like sanding things getting that off. Hope you’re feeling better soon mate.

Tony.

Still covid positive…. And if that wasn’t bad enough!
I heard a bang in the kitchen and found water draining out from the boiler….. a bolt that holds the inlet manifold to the heat exchanger had sheared off. Moved the microwave which was drenched, and got the washing up bowl to catch the water….. so replaced with a bucket. Into the loft and turned the feed to the header tank off….. then a hose onto the boiler drain…. Out through the kitchen window and drained it down into a gulley outside. The only ingenious bit was to use a mic stand to support the hose across the kitchen. Probably thd best use its ever had

Cleaned up the mess and dried ouf the microwave ….. and had a cup of tea!!!!

Decision was easy…. New boiler!!! Cant get a heat exchanger for it ( being 27 years old) snd even if I took the whole thing apart andgot thd broken stud out …. Cant get any of the sealing rings or gaskets:confused:

So spent the rest of the morning draining down the whole system. I was going to do a full system clean anyway….. but hadn’t banked on a new boiler as well.

Cant get anyone in as still covid positive, so may as well start getting all the rads off and get them outside to power wash them .

Will check it all now and replace anything that needs doing …..

Just need to find a boiler…. Glowworm, Potterton and Baxi all seem to do a like for like replacement…. But dont know which manufacturer is best …
The old one was a Halstead, but they became part of Ideal I think.

oh well ….Anyone want a Z3 kit car? At this rate I’ll never get it done 😂😂😂

Oh what a pain that is, with being Covid positive you can’t get anyone in to fix it. As you know, we are going through the isolation process as Maxine is still positive too.
There have apparently been a million new cases this week so now I can honestly say that my wife is one in a million, not won in a raffle.

Halstead boilers have been a bane over my last two homes, complete crap. Replaced with a Bosch and Worcester combi a couple of years ago what a difference it made to the heating. So thumbs up for me if you have to have a combi one. I hope your feeling better soon Malc but something to do does help with the healing process.

Hope you're feeling better. I have been in the position on several occasions where I had to but something and didn't know which product had the best reputation. On most occasions, I have gone to you-tube where independent reviews have been posted rating several of the same products. It has been quite an eye opener to see the shortcomings of many of them. I would never have known any of this and would have made a poor decision regarding my purchase. I don't know if this would work for you. Usually I just go to you-tube and type in the type of product (ie. washer, dryer, boiler...etc.) and several videos come up. Most of them are ads for specific brands, but among these ads are reviews that are done for several of the best known brands. They compare price and reliability. You'd be surprised what you find out. I did this for a kitchen range. The range I wanted to buy had serious problems. For example, when it was on broil, the heat would come out the top of the oven door and melt the plastic on the range knobs. The electronic spark devices that are on each burner wear out quickly and are an arm and a leg to replace. And other small problems I wouldn't think about. The range I bought, an LG, had only one bad review. They said that a child could get burned if he reached up and touched the top of the stove. All the other reviews on the stove's features were great. Well.............what kid wouldn't get burned reaching up to touch ANY stove.....(Duhhhh). So I bought the LG and it's been great for several years, no regrets. But I owe it to these reviews............Frankie
