If this was a narrow road/roundabout, I would put my hands up and say 'I should have left more room' but the road is so wide the picture I have of the breakdown truck picking car up shows the truck alongside the car with safety legs out and crane sideways on to the car and he is still within the lines of the lane and whist stood there many HGVs the size of the offender went past us completely within the lane he should have been in.
He is shown as being within his lane by dashcam but as soon as he moved he just straight-lined the road, to give him more room I would have needed to be in the next postcode.
Non English speaking driver just looked blank, and I thought pretty much all swearwords were universal......

Sorry guys, the car was collected from the crash by the Police recommended people and then transfered to somewhere by insurance and at this point do not know where.
The nearside headlight got clipped from behind and bits of broken lens were on the road so can't help with any spares.
Shame because the interior was excellent.

My goodness, what a great shame to see you Z like this 😢
Hope you get enough insurance money to get it back to how it was 👍

Be very cautious about the care hire / accident management outfits. Almost eveery insurer now appears to have an agreement with them such that they refer their insured's to them in the first instance. Whilst it may be "at no cost to you", there is a real prospect that you will end up having to go to a small claims hearing, disclosing your personal financial details and bank statements so that the court and other insurer can consider whether you could / could not have afforded to hire privately etc etc.

That really is a criminal act.
Glad you are OK but losing a Dakar is terrible, my favourite colour that.
probably in for something of a bunfight with the insurer so I wish you every bit of good luck with it.

You were lucky.

Trucks from eastern europe often don't have the proper side guards that stop bikes going under under the trailer. If the bars are missing it's possible for the wheels on the trailer to climb over a low car instead of dragging it along.
I was once sitting at an intersection waiting to turn left onto an interstate on ramp. A semi came barreling down the off ramp to my right, planning to turn left (I'm facing east, going to turn north, he comes from the south, turning west). As you know, the rear wheels of a semi trailer track waaayy inside the path of the tractor. Well he almost hit me with the tractor and it was clear his trailer wheels were going to go right where I was sitting. Lucky for me there was nobody behind me so I threw it into reverse and backed up about 10'. Even so, he still almost clipped me. Had I not been paying attention or not been able to back up, I'd have been crushed by his trailer wheels.

Well I hope I am wrong but insurance companies pay people to minimise the size of a claim. They are loss adjusters, its there job.:(
I think you're scaremongering (and for the life of me, I cannot work out why you would do this to the OP).

He is insured. End of.

It will be written-off, and the initial offer may not be as high as the OP would like, but with providing examples of current similar cars for sale, I'm sure the OP will get a satisfactory pay-out.

This " probably in for something of a bunfight with the insurer " is, quite simply, bo||ocks.

If you've never had dealings with loss adjusters you have no idea. I have. Just because the owner is insured it is far from "End of".

Tony.

The dash cam footage shows absolutely no doubt as to who is at fault and the Police and my insurers at this point are confident it will be down to the third party.
I live in Milton Keynes and we are not short of roundabouts here and sometimes it can be vague who is responsible but there is little doubt here.
I have lived here for 50 years so am very practised at roundabout use.....and a dash cam is worth its weight in gold.

Happened to me earlier this year. Insurance of course wrote the Z3 off and I had to buy it back and get it repaired with what was left of the payout. Rear wing, drivers door and drivers side sill. Bought second hand parts All panels are bolt on so presented no real problem.

A bit of a mare sorting my claim out . The underwriters wanted to class it as a structural write off and I argued it was only cosmetic they won’t send an assessor out to inspect it , it’s left to you to do all the work to convince them otherwise. Had to have the rear wing removed and send photos with the wheel off. They seem very keen to scrap the car initially !

It’s just the easy way out. Simple as that. IF it was their car then it would be different.

I really do think the zed is dead, back bumper, rear wheel arch/wing, passenger door complete, the small front side panel, the bonnet and the front bumper, all the bits attached to this lot plus the the front suspension, shocks, bottom trunions, possibly brakes and the nearside headlight.
And the wheels... the nearside front and rear were clobbered and the offside wheels were dragged over the kerbing all the tyres suffered and the wheels were the bolted rim to centre type, someone will know the exact model type but I don't think they are lying around in anyones store or cheap if they are......
Even buying used spares I think it's not going to make it, and at my age the thought of trying to redeem that lot makes me shiver.
Well done to PaulG with his repair though.

There are people on this site who break Z3’s and panels are not expensive I got a door for £75 a rear wing for £50 and a pair of sills for £150. Good luck👍

That front wheel looks like part of the suspension has been ripped off. Suspension can be replaced but tracking may never get lined up if chassis is out of alignment.
