I am trying to persuade my lad to go into production commissioning up my old laptops. I have quite a few. And selling them as an out the box INPA solution with a fresh Windows XP install.

Expect price to be around £125 with UK postage. That’s £50 no profit on the cables/software and £75 for the laptop, postage and an evening’s effort getting it working.

You’ll see people trying to get £200-£400 for this setup but it’s too much money for what is.

I’ll post a full thread if there’s enough interest here.

Note these are old but sturdy IBM Lenovos. But they are too slow for other use and it’s inadvisable anyway as INPA is fairly easy to upset if you play with the USB ports.

And I still need to persuade him as I’m jiggered if I’m giving up a whole evening to make a few quid!

Thats a very good idea, just need to get the lad on board, they would no doubt fly off the shelves just on this forum.

i've found a quick wheelspin clears my dsc and abs lights if they come on together

which prob points to dirty sensors at the rear in my case
Two reasons that unfortunately this is not an option.....
I only have the 1.9lt engine ........so no power
And...
Have you seen the cost of tyres these days!!! !! =))

For good measure, I've seen it stated in several threads that the connector under the dash only reads the engine ECU. This isn't strictly true as you can access Auto G/box faults through it also.

I have a B800 code reader that I used for the airbag reset, will that read the codes on this problem?
I think you'll find the B800 is only for Airbag faults.

I never plug in there as it only does engine codes. It’s good practice to plug in under bonnet so on that basis no big deal.

I didn’t know that. But it always accounts for why people can’t get chassis codes so I’ll stick to saying that ;)

I only know that because my Z3 Auto and my Z4 Auto sometimes throw a fault and go into what's probably a "limp home" mode Rob, and I can clear them from that connector.

@Mazza, I've got INPA on a laptop if you wanted to drive over my way and read/clear the faults

Also I can also sell you a laptop with all the bits and show you how to use it.
