...so I am pretty sure the highly talented folks at BMW didn’t design these relays to be hanging off their wires in the boot. What is this picture supposed to look like? … looks like a snapped metal bracket ?

It looks to me as though the relay support has broken off from the top of the bracket with the hole in, in the first picture.
