Guys we are heading up to the above for a couple of days this week, (Thurs, Fri) and just wondered if you could recommend some places of interest to visit, also be nice to meet up with any fellow zedders

Goathland is a must Sean, and maybe a ride on the North Yorks. Railway? Oh, and fish 'n' chips in Whitby!:)

Tony.

Whitby Abbey where they filmed Bram Stoker's Dracula, only 199 steps up from the town. Our Carla managed them all bless her, would not let me carry her!:)

Tony.

Thanks guys, we will be going to the Magpie in Whitby for Fish n chips, Goatland it is then

It's a nice drive over the moors from Goathland to Whitby mate. Where are you staying?

Tony.

Not sure where you will be based but last year we found an ideal Zed Route to Whitby:- Starting on the A170 at Kirbymoorside, head north through Hutton-le-Hole (nice café) and Castleton to the A171, head east towards Whitby but turn off on to the A174 to enter Whitby from the north. The A169 from Pickering is also quite scenic but North Yorkshire Police have just got more speed camera vans and the A169 is a favourite with the bikers.

Can recomend Trenchers opposite the Railway station for Fish and Chips

Looking like it could be hot by weekend Sean, hope you have a good time mate in that sparkly clean Z:thumbsup:

Tony.

Me and Sara spent a weekend in north Yorkshire a few weeks ago,did a route recommended by Toby.
Started from Settle taking in the butter tub pass which is excellent and the Ribble valley.
We stayed Saturday night at a b+b near Northallerton.
The weather was red hot, hope you get similar when you're there.

Have eaten there quite a few times, great fish and chips plus mushy peas!!
Magpie had a fire earlier in the year but I'm sure it will have been sorted by now, only problem I've seen in the past has been the queues to get served.
Cross over the swing bridge to get to shops and on up the steps to the Abbey is a must.
Hope the weather holds out for you, as some stunning scenery to view on the way to Whitby.

We are staying East on the Moors mate, I believe you where in the Dales

Edam camp is a good place to go if your interested in ww2. It's an old pow camp now set up as a museum very interesting. It comes under Malton North Yorkshire

Nice one @Slam I had forgotten that one mate.

Tony.

Been there a few time I could wander about all day there. And there's flamingo land if your one for rides. Goathland is where they filmed heartbeat. A day out in York city is a good day too you park up and get a bus in.

Rievaulx Abbey is worth a look. Chop Gate nearby is a famous road albeit spoilt a bit by cameras.

I can recommend Robin Hoods Bay. Quaint, picturesque fishing village. Park at the top of the hill near the tennis courts and walk down to the sea shore.....also fantastic for fossil hunting...
think Magpie in Whitby will still be closed following fire..told it was extensive. can recommend, as others have, Trenchers in Whitby. and lastly if you go over the moors to Whitby on the A169 from Pickering you will be on one of the Top Gear featured 'driving' roads. Have a great time
