Hope you’re lucky with the weather- have a great trip! Say hi to the Highland cattle!

I wish I was back up there too!

A couple of pics at John O Groats.

The roads are fun, no serious potholes yet, very little traffic this week.

Some of the locals don't like slowing down for passing points.

Stopping in Lochinver tonight, it's been a fun experience so far.

I'll put up some more pics when I get back, Applecross tomorrow, then Glencoe.

I have been hunting around Rosehall and Ullapool for the past 15 years. I know the area well but have always wanted to take one of the toys up for a play in the summer on the 500. Unfortunately the dog and all the kit don't fit and they don't like the forestry tracks I have to navigate. Perhaps next year it might be time for a trip. Looks stunning - you're very lucky to get the weather. Perfect time of year. Midges are a nightmare from mid may to mid September. You will love the road to Applecross and Glencoe is absolutely stunning.

A real shame you third photo is a bit blurred. Would have been a great candidate for the calendar.
You don’t want to go back and get another do you ?

I think I may have another lol, I'll sort them when I get back.

Back home now, 1,620 miles in total, £288 in fuel, I found it very mentally tiring after a few days. Loads of blind bends, crests you can't see over, so challenging to drive.

We were lucky with the weather, and the traffic was light.

The potholes weren't too bad, but with no rain they were easy to see. The worst road was the one through Glencoe, it's in a very bad state.

I'll be doing it again next April so if anyone fancies it we can get a group together.

One near miss with a deer, if you see one cross the road up ahead be ready for another one to follow it.

I met Duncan at Lochcarran garage, he really is a nice chap, a car enthusiast, and gives free coffee to all his customers. I changed my route slightly on his advice and saw some great roads and scenery.

I have a new appreciation for the Z3, I've always liked them of course, but after this trip I can say it's a great car to do a roadtrip in. I was undecided about the hardtop but left it on as I wanted security for when it was parked up.

The other two I took of the one that was out of focus, shame about all of the bird poo on the bonnet.

It is a great cruise, but my advice would be not to do it between 1st June and end September because of the midges and give yourself a window to go in so you get the best of the weather. When I next do it the month will be May and I will leave the date flexible, calling it on the forecast. If you get it right it's one of the best routes in Europe. Get it wrong and it can be pretty miserable.
