Going to take a chance on laying what we fetched yesterday Mark and hope for the best. We last put some down in 2016 and Hurricane Mathew kindly took a step to the east during the night so it was OK. l'm hoping we get lucky again. Abz, Andy and the boys due to fly out on Thursday but may get out tomorrow.

Job's a good un, at last. Kids are on a flight home tonight, don't know if we will leave on Saturday as we should be.

To keep you all up to date we're not going to dodge this Hurricane, it is heading straight for Central Florida and will land near Sarasota as a Cat. 3. We have cleared our pool deck of any potential missiles.

Also the home to our left which has been sold but is empty after the moment needed clearing too.

However the one to our right is occupied full time but it doesn't look hopeful that he will clear it. It still has the same junk out there that it did last Christmas time. Including furniture, grill etc. and a bloody noisy parrot of some kind.

ps. The strong winds are supposed to arrive here around 5-6 pm. Two days of rain, up to 8-10 inches where we are.

Not sure how severe cat 3 hurricane is but sounds bad, hope you & Shirl come through it OK. 🙏
 
It has been upgraded to Cat. 4 with max. Winds of 155 mph. a Cat. 5 Hurricane starts at 156 mph. they’re saying.

Yes , stay safe thats for sure . Ill probably be getting some of the Ian leftovers early next week , mostly lots of rain , not to much wind .

ps. The storm is so big that as 1 side impacts the Gulf side of the peninsula, the other side is striking the Atlantic side.

Shirl just saw some video of a small shark swimming along the road in Fort Myers where the storm came on shore.

Well, here we are on the morning after the 4th worst Hurricane to hit the mainland USA.

The lake out the back has risen by about 18".

We lowered the pool level by a few inches but it was topped back up.

Next door did eventually clear his deck of potential missiles, but don't bother to take in his recycle bin,

and now he needs a new bin store.
We both slept in the bathrooms which have no exterior walls, or more importantly, no windows.

Not the most comfortable nights sleep I ever had, but not the worst for sure.
We're told that all roads to O.I.A. are blocked by floodwater so we might not be able to leave on time.
We now have to put all of this back out on the pool deck in the rain.

On the downside, there had to be one right?, the storm is strengthening from a Tropical Storm back towards Hurricane strength over the Atlantic off Atlanta.

Hope things are going OK for you both and you stay safe whilst the storm/hurricane passes over. Then hopefully the weather stabilizes so you can get back to UK.
