I've just bought a set of second hand Bilstein B6 dampers and the fronts came fitted with springs, I wasn't expecting that and had planned to swap my 'Sport' springs onto the Bilsteins.
My question is how do I identify what these springs are? I worked in the spring industry many moons ago and coils like this were identified with coloured stripes to show rates etc, these are so marked but different colours! The front left hand coil has Yellow stripes across 4 of the coils but the right front coil has White spots on 2 of the coils!! So I am confused - any thoughts?
Well if you don’t know and you worked in the industry the rest of us are probably stuffed!

I am trying to put together a colour marking table but the data is currently scant. I tend to find the fronts have no markings at all and the rears are red. That’s facelift Sports anyway.

Another thing to factor in would be the tensile strength of the metal, thicker wound being stiffer and vice versa.

Personally with the Eibach springs I always find the rear lower than I would like. I'm tempted to give a go Eibach front and Sport /Z3M Rear.

Or to level it out with thicker spring pads:

5mm # 33 53 1 136 385
7.5mm # 33 53 1 136 386
9mm # 33 53 1 127 224
10mm # 33 53 1 136 387
14.5mm #33 53 1 094 754
I'm hazarding a guess that my car has been lowered on eibach springs as it was lowered before i bought it but very much agree on the just a touch too low on the back. Just ordered some new rear top mounts to see if they can steal 3mm back. Seems to be expensive for the poly spring pads that i have seen from power flex.
