Today I notice strange noise coming from the front of the engine. Like a graunchy wheel bearing kind of noise.

Engine cold. Didn't warm it up. Was dinner time.

Suspect it's the fan. I stop the fan with my fingers and hold one of the blades, there's a vibration. Fan kind of wobbles in my hand if you know what I mean.

I'll let it warm up tomorrow see if noise continues or goes away.

What do you guys reckon?

I reckon you better watch your fingers when you stop the fan like that !!!

I'd replaced water pump maybe 15,000 mls ago. Wasn't genuine OEM. I got it from local motorfactor. So maybe tbat's about to pack in. I will check that out.
It could be the viscous coupling, take the drive belt off and have a good look.

It sounds like the water pump bearings.

Yup. That was it.

Sorry about the delay coming back. Just wanted to say that at this weekend I took the belt off. Water pump bearing was so loose and wobbly I really can't believe it was still water tight.

Anyway. New pump. New belt and new antifreeze. Went for a spin on the weekend. Hardtop on of course coz it's pretty nippy in these parts. and it runs beautifully.
