Wow, they needed a new study to figure that one out ?? Probably most of us have been saying this for years

Someone will be paid thousands of pounds to do research, and come up with the answer we already know.

We're in the wrong job mate ;)

Trouble is Toby, we would be too honest and soon be out of a job.

Tony.

Too many great big '4x4' s (a lot just two wheel drive) driving around, never off road, with one person on board. Fashion !

It’s a bit like the modern garage too. Who can drive a modern car in a garage and actually open the doors ?

Same applies to modern houses too though, the garages may be slightly wide inside through the doorway but the actual doorway opening is a pretty tight fit. No bigger than the drive and garage at our Gary's house which is 90 years old.

Tony.

But what would the extra cost be to make them "usable" really? Personally I would happily pay more.

Tony

Unfortunately garages are not a priority for many people these days, mostly used for storage etc. Those of us who want to keep cars inside and have room to work on them are a minority.

Got my first BMW E21 323i in 1984 after the theft of my MK1 RS2000 and decided I must lock this vehicle away so have had the council lockup ever since. Can (believe it or not) get the Z door open and squeeze out if I stay tight to the opposite side. All maintenance is done outside. Obviously the weather is my biggest problem as it is for non garaged vehicles. Rent for said garage over this period is probably in the region of a new family saloon at today’s prices but paying monthly has lessened the burden. Has it been worth it?. Yes if you take into consideration Ive kept all my cars away from the thieves. Only trouble is it’s not insured overnight at this address unless it’s in the lockup, a two minute walk to go get it is a right pita. Getting too old to contemplate move. Coupe was to be parked outside saving me £700+a year lockup rent but after loosing two garden sheds for one cabin there’s so much stuff in lockup I just can’t do without it.
Well at least the coupe has a nice dry bed every night. (not like me waiting for the day when I don’t)=))

RHA,ROY.

I can almost fully open both doors when parked in the middle of my modern garage

But I do have to pop round the neighbours if I want to use the toilet and have got used to sleeping on a concrete floor every night. Can't have it all I suppose

Yeah, slumming at the Ritz ain't all it's cracked to be mate.;)=))
