Now that we have power my next task was to find a spot to put the Garmin sat nav.
Hell, isnt the Z4 screen small

It looked as though the screen mount was going to have to be located as far into the bottom right hand corner as possible however I then lifted the little storage area lid on top of the dash and presumably this is where an OEM item would go.
I played around with some bits of rubber
and some of the felt padding that is used for protecting floors from being marked by chair legs etc and cut a couple of strips of the felt pads around the same length as the Garmin. I stuck both of these to the inside bottom area of the hole and as if by magic the Garmin sits nicely in between the felt strips and is nicely wedged under the compartment lid without putting any strain on the lid or squeezing the guts 
out of the Garmin. The power lead fits around halfway up the sat nav rear and so its not in the way and then its possible to tidily connect it to the cigarette lighter
When its not in use simply put the sat nav back in its little case and into the boot and then close the storage lid and no one would ever know
