Not surprising really Tony, the way the police use em, trashes them apparently. Read before they were having trouble with them.
BMW will be able to sell them easily and at full market price rather than having to bid for the tender to supply.

A lot more info over on BMWLand seems to be incorrect oil and extending oil change intervals.
Interestly I have not heard of any force taking legal actions over the cost to them,and it seems plain BMW are not replacing the engines under warranty.

Seems theres going to be some interesting times ahead for Roads Policing - their default manufacturers are BMW and Volvo - now its only Volvo.
They made a huge order nationwide for Volvos, which have collision avoidance systems that can’t be turned off. So now they can’t ram people and even tactical stops are difficult because it detects that they are too close to a vehicle and it applies the brakes etc. Surely someone in procurement should be checking vewhicles are suitable for the intended purpose ?
The BMW's are being sold off at auction as non runners -someone has the job of drilling holes in all the engine blocks prior to going to auction - Brightwells auction site if anyone is interested.

Thats not what he’s saying, it’s down to police cars being sold never having been MOTd and with no history. Allows people to buy them form auction and then clock them before reselling as there is NO away to check the mileage other than the auction listing. The police aren’t doing the clocking, but causing the conditions where someone can easily get away with doing so.
Not as I understand it - from what I've heard, ( which may or may not be true ) they are left idling then going to full chat immediately. Causing oil problems apparently
Years ago I had a golf 16V that was ex police vehicle. Inspecters car IIRC. Garage that I bought from had service details of the vehicle but couldnt give them to me. Mileage was possibly genuine as it was high, but the car ran a sweet as..... and was certainly quick and liked to make progress
That's not quite correct either is it. The Police just send these cars to a place where they can be and are clocked , same thing. The person who dispatches these used cars said that adding an MOT did not add any value to the cars offered for sale. These cars have history they just do not leave it with the cars when they're disposed of. These cars, mainly are clocked before an MOT so the they start their MOT history with a much lower mileage reading. You think the Police don't know what happens ? Perhaps the corruption in the Police spreads further than what was in the news today.

According to the video, @GazHyde is bang on.
The police aren't doing the clocking and nor is the auction house.
The trader who buys the car from auction is clocking the car before it's submitted for its first MOT.

That's what the video says as well.
My understanding of it from the video is...
The engine oil gets diluted with diesel. This clogs the DPF more frequently. The regen is performed by injecting diesel into the DPF on the combustion stroke, but the DPF already has diesel in it from the oil. The excess diesel causes a fire.
Because the Police don't service to BMW spec. they do it to their own spec. Less often.

And nobody knows anything or who is doing it? The Police are guilty by ascoiation by not issuing the service history and thus hiding the true mileage.

They are as guilty as the people who know there is a "farm" in the street, but don't report it. More so, as they are meant to prevent crime, as well as catch the bad guys.
Derbyshire police seem to have lots of different makes of police cars, particularly the unmarked ones. Peugeots, Audis, Vauxhall etc as well as BMW and Volvos.
The Dutch Police use Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Volkswagen vehicles.
And, it wasn't diesel !!
