Hello forum!!
I’m new so please be gentle!!
My trusty steed(until now!) is a 2009 23i sdrive.
Whilst happily driving along my pop up screen decided to close on its own... then open again but only showing the BMW logo.. it then closed down again... this continued until I reached home!!
Now I have no radio.. parking sensors or any display other than the logo.. with screen still popping up and down..
I have used ODB to clear faults but this remains.. 00A47E which states internal voltage supply defective.....
any ideas on a solution????
Thanks

My 2016 3 Series did similar. Apparently it’s a well known issue on that model of idrive. It developed after 3 years. Previously they fitted replacement units but now it’s a software upgrade. It’s fixed the problem. Mine was done under warranty although it’s a lease car in maintenance anyway. So I don’t know what the cost is.

You obviously have a different generation of idrive there but the same may apply.

Thank you Sir... it’s definitely a thought... not sure how I’d go about getting it fixed though??

If it was me I'd be trawling through all the BMW, ICE and hacking forums. 1) Looking for similar reports 2) Finding out how to fix it myself. Failing that I'd get a diagnosis from a BMW dealer or specialist and then try and fix it myself. Failing that I'd get the BMW dealer or a coding type specialist to do it. Otherwise in the meantime hope someone comes up with a simple fix here but my experience of this type of thing on other cars as well is that it's not usually that simple.

Well I’ve changed the battery for AGM replacement and had it coded ... so battery fine.. that’s one thing less at least!!!
On googling fault code it does say it waits for a >10.5v signal... ??
I just need to find out if the unit is getting power i guess??

I would think the key thing is stable power if it comes on and goes off. So it might be a voltage stabiliser away from the unit at fault. Guessing here from my limited autoelectrical knowledge. That's if the fault is definitely idrive related - I tend to think it might be but I only read the first few google hits very quickly.

Hmmmm that’s very interesting point you’ve made!!.... now it could be some sort of power loss before the unit then...
it’s looking like I might have to get an auto electrician to look at it and take the hit???

Hi Andy, welcome from me near Lincoln. Have you contacted BMW to see if there’s an outstanding “re-call” for this problem?

Tony.

Actually if you use one of the MOT checker websites it will tell you if there is an outstanding recall. There may also be notice of this on you MOT certificate.
