Hi All,

Has anyone hardwired their Dash Cam, if so is there an easier way through the bulkhead to the fuse box?

Thanks

On the bulkhead behind the fusebox, just to the left, pull the soundproofing away and you'll see a rubber grommet that accesses behind the passenger carpet under the dash.

That’s great, thank you.

Be aware that if you hardwire into the ignition, the camera will go off with the ignition and the camera won't be running when you are parked.

I would rather hardwire from a permanent 12v supply via a switch, so that I could control when the camera was off or on.

Most cameras have a built in battery that will still operate the camera when parked, designed to detect movement and impact
They charge up the battery when the ignition is on.

You can use ignition circuit, which in fact means that it automatically starts and stops the camera when it detects the ignition is turned on/off
This keeps the SD card from filling up too quickly and overwriting the oldest clip that you may have wanted to view.
Our 3 cars which are Nextbase (or sister company Voyager) are all wired through the switched Ignition circuits

I much prefer that choice too Pete, it also does something automatically which you would sometimes otherwise forget. Just the one time when you would need it.
We always take a Dash Cam to Florida and find now that very few rentals have an ignition fed power supply, so we have to try to remember to switch it on and off each time. Someone, who shall remain nameless, has been responsible for many hours recorded of a really lovely garage door:whistle:=))=))

What do you guys use for a dashcam? I'd love something very small, without a screen.. If I need the video I pop the card out...

I fitted this one in my Z3 a few years ago and have since used it I my Z4. It does have a screen but is very compact and is invisible behind the rear view mirror. When I got this it was around £50.

You could also buy this camera without a screen if you need that.
