Does it turn off with the lights switch? Does it remain on even when on sidelights ?

The fog light comes on when the light switch is activated, irrespective of the position of the fog light switch.

When the light switch is off I have no lights at all. When I put on the light switch to any position, the lights+ rear fog come on.
(The front fog only come on when the headlights are on and I activate that switch)

Do you know anyone local to you who has a "known" good switch to try? Was the problem like this with your old switch?

The new switch and the old switch are both working correctly, its def not the switches. With either switch, or with NO switch in place the problem still remains. My thought was that the relay had been "triggered" and was causing current to flow to the bulb.
Due to not being able to find this mysterious relayK49, I will have to rewire the rear fog, to enable me to get thru the MOT and then go thru the original loom until I can identify my issue!
I'll advise when I get to the bottom of it, probably over the next week or so!

A great many thanks for all the suggestions/ideas.....I finally solved my foggy problem, after stripping the wiring loom from the boot working forwards! Someone had obviously had an electrical problem before and had put bad connectors in the loom. The feed to the fog light was bare and touching the feed to the tail light (also bare) due to the insulating tape covering the soldered join wearing thru!
All now good.

Glad you got it sorted. Did you happen to take any pictures of the fault, just in case someone else gets the same problem?

Tony.
