Hi All.. Just bought a Z3 after many years of envy and finally reaching a time in my life when I can afford the luxury of a second car and insurance costs have become manageable. My Z3 is a yr. 2000; 2.0L in Topaz Blue and has done 107,000 miles. Got it as a private sale after a fairly long search for a decent one. It has the 6 cyl. 150 bhp engine and certainly drives well. My only grouse is that when I got it home I tried to fold the N/S mirror in and it came loose! On closer inspection I found it had been broken for a while and bodged back on to the broken internal spindle with some black gunge so now I'm looking to buy the repair kit used by some of your contributors. I'll post some pictures in due course. JP

hi jaypee, welcome. common problem there, they corrode then break off when you try to move them, sounds as though it has happened to yours before, good news though is as its a common problem there is loads of info about.

Thanks to everyone for the welcome and the mirror repair tips. I've just received the replacement "plastic" unit from Germany via Ebay and it looks like a quality product. About £96 with postage. I didn't go for the colour sprayed base element as I'll probably leave it black. Should get round to trying to fit it in the next few weeks, though without a garage I'm condemned to working in the cold!
