Lumpy tickover, car runs then looses power, starts but won't rev up, no faults in the ecu, put a new disa valve on, battery going flat now, going to change battery, I think the disa has cured the running issue but getting fed up with the aa man bringing it home, car only has 54k on it with fish, noticed the engine management light doesn't

Indeed, welcome Dave, I break a few z3s, mainly 1.9, in Woking, Surrey

All sorts of reasons for battery drain, from broken boot loom wiring to knackered alternator, poor connections etc.

Good luck- pop questions up on a fresh thread per problem and people on here will help you get the zed roadworthy

If bulb removed ecu would still store faults but no fault codes, not sure on power drain, going to change battery just in case it has a dead cell, will go from there, cheers

Hello and welcome to the forum. Common faults with these cars will be deteriorating rubbers on the intake, cam and crank sensors. All easy fixes though. What kind of diagnostic tool do you have?

What Garry is referring to are the big rubber manifold connectors about 4" Dia. from the air filter to the throttle body to the manifold. A way to trace these leaks is to spray them with Carb. cleaner or even Clutch/Brake cleaner while the engine is running. Listen for increase in revs.

Tony.
