Steve Whitson signing in. I've only found you through the BMW club and I'm introducing myself to fellow Z owners. My 04 Z4 3.0SE was fairly standard spec until I got my hands on it. I started my project 2yrs ago, here's a wee snippet.

Hi Stevie, welcome from near Lincoln. Is that a BMW V10? I've got a 2003 Z4 3.0 and can't wait to see more of what you've done to yours.;)

Tony.

Hi Tony
I specialise in building race engines for Impreza's but I needed to build something special for myself . My Z4 has been a real challenge, but I hope members will appreciate the time and effort I've put into building something very special.
My goal was to build a grand tourer that would be entertaining to take round the Alps. This is what has been keeping me busy in my spare time.

Just a few pics to let members see what's kept me busy.

Looks like a great project, first time I have seen a Z4 stripped down to its underpants, very similar concept to the Z3. Your new engine looks OEM, well done on the conversion

Wow!
I love that V10 howl. Will be a real surprise to here that engine and see a Z4 fly by!

Very interested to see which transmission and diff is fitted. The diff in the M5 was something special with all the modes, making for a suprisingly controllable deployment of the power when in 'M' mode (but still a handful when all the aids turned off).
Will be interesting to see how this handles in a shorter whelbase and much less weight!

I'm assuming it's the 7sp SMG you are using as only the US got a handful of manual 6speed models and must be hard to get hold of.
I think the SMG will make more sense in a sports car than it ever did in a big saloon.
