Hi Chaps
Just thought I would pop along and say Hi and introduce myself, I am a 60yrs old semi-retired chap living in West Midlands UK.

I am the proud custodian of a 1999 (V) Z3 2.8 Auto in Silver with approx 123K miles on it, I have owned the vehicle for approx five years, and in this time I lavished far too much money on it .... far more than it is resale value ..... but then, don't we all :)

I have replaced all brake, suspension, and steering components, I had the gearbox rebuilt, and a replacement hood after screwing up the zipper during the installation of a replacement rear screen. This weekend I am replacing both the Door Mirror internals with the X8R repair kits as both folding mechanisms are totally shot.

So far I have only had one real issue with the Z3, it was left under a "roof only" cover during severe storms last year, it seems the rubber seal on the boot lid failed and water seeped into the boot-well, exactly where all the electrics are located, oh the joy of sourcing replacement electrics and a partial wiring loom repair due to osmosis.

In essence, the Z3 owes me far more financially than I shall ever get back, but the fun and joy it brings after just a few minutes driving with the roof down, the wind blowing across my head where my hair used to be, it all seems so worthwhile. ...

This is no mid-life crisis, I had that 20yrs ago when I married a woman 15yrs younger ... (now happily divorced) :)

I hope to see some of you around and about.

NGA

I can probably help with wiring loom sections.

Welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the forum.
Cheers for the offer, it is resolved now.
All seats and carpets were taken out, dried and cleaned, replacement electronics were sourced and fitted, and a half loom spliced in.
Not sure which made me cry more, the amount of water I saw sitting in the boot-well (it had been sitting unused for 8 weeks) or when I got the bill for the repairs....
