Do the M Coupes have run flats? For me the difference isn't as big as it was with @Lee's coupe as I still have run flats. I've driven his for a reasonable distance and it's a much better ride than mine is currently, but then he has the extra rigidity of having a roof!

With all that the car does handle much better and is definitely more fun on the twisties than it was on the standard sport springs.

No the MC doesn't have run flats or electric steering so I think i will feel the difference more. I think it should improve things but need to decide if I'm going full coilovers or just springs

Forgot that you get proper steering as well as no run flats. It's taken me a while to get used to the electric steering again from my Z3 which had such precise steering. I'm a month in to owning this one and I'm just starting to get a feel for it.

Firstly welcome, to the group and thought I would share my experience of recent coilovers.

Firstly I decided on KW3's over eibach was flexibility, as I can easily change my car from fast road to track monster with a £10 an going to kwick fit.

I have installed KW’3 on the car and has totally transformed its behaviour – it feels much more connected to the road, without been harsh and its ability of speed bumps is better than OEM. I thought it was a placebo effect initially, but from last Sunday – I realised it had evolved from a cruiser to a sports car.

Over last weekend, we did the Oopnurthring in the peak district, and there are some fantastic driving roads in that part of the country, and below are details of the route we completed.

I did not have much opportunity to view the fantastic views, but any driving enthusiast I would recommend to try this out.
I was very nervous my E89 leading the pack of E85’s and Z3M’s – ensuring that my car and my driving was able to provide them a good experience. I must confess the E89 did not let me down; it has become the car I wanted it to be, the ability of turn in on sharp corners – and been handle sweeping corners with creating ease.

I must confess that I would not been able to drive in the manner I did - with stock suspension - on reflection how the car handled the uneven roads - and sudden dips was such an revelation - compared to its previous setup.

So if you feel that your car handling is letting you down, I can honestly recommend adding KW’3 as they made the car as it should have been – more driver focused.

Great feedback twinturbo that's exactly what I was hoping it would do to the handling and having the ability to adjust it easily for trackdays is a massive bonus. Good to hear from real owners as its a big investment for something that might not add much and could even make it worse if not properly set up. I find it currently as standard a great road car but it doesn't have the edge or confidence when really pressing on that you need if your going to track it. Hopefully the kw would iron that out..

Yes I have done a few track days and found the limitations of the e89. As this was designed as an gt car not a sports car. Your standard handling is far superior than mine as stock.

But I understand your sediment, as there are two was to go.

Springs and sway bars / shocks
Or coilovers

The problem is you can't really test drive - so you can only read people's subjective view point. Most people are not going to say what they done is s***. Hence why I thought there was an placebo effect.

The settings you use are critical as I felt when I had them installed initially was, what have I done as it was to harsh for an daily driver - but a few tweaks really happy with the result.

The limitation of coilovers over shocks and springs that they are Liniar not progressive - so small imperfections you feel a lot more. Depends if you like a firm ride.

I was considering Bc-racing as they are half the price and the distributors say how good they are for the price - and quite a few use them privately. However two questions I asked were

1)are the kW better: yes
2) if the kW were the same price what would you use: KW

There is so much crap about coilovers and I could not afford to make a mistake. Hence why I justified getting the best I could and tweet them when needed.

With your there are much more options available, and more people modified there cars. E89 is considered a cruiser and not many in uk have done such drastic mods to there cars as me.

However I am sure there are a few people here who have made changes to the MC, so the risk element is reduced.

Hope this helps

Yes very helpful thanks as like you say you won't know if it's any good until it's too late as not easy to drive a car that's been modified already!
