Hi everyone,

As expected, this site exists and hopefully some feedback from experienced Z3 owners would be appreciated....

Looking to view (and potentially purchase) a z3 1.9 auto in dark green with dark green leather interior 98k with service history and new mot. 1998 model.
Would appear to have been well kept.

I am looking to buy a car with a view to putting it in the garage and pampering it...I am no mechanic, but would try small jobs myself. Hopefully the car would be one to enjoy on weekend drives and not be a money pit.

Have various ideas, but this one seems to appeal. I am well aware it's no speed machine, but that is no concern.

Price is £2k ish..... Any advice on what to look for and if this car is expected to hold its value now.

Many thanks,

Dave

Welcome Dave!

Any Z3 of that age you will be looking at suspension components and rubber hoses (induction and cooling) in the engine bay. Rust is starting to creep in so make sure you get a look underneath if possible. Nothing particularly major to resolve, but likely not been touched. If you can find one which has a good service history that's great, doesn't need to be BMW history - just some history!

Not driven an auto Z3 before, so can't help you out with that but plenty of others on here with them.

Thanks for the welcome guys,

Is this the one to buy though
?

Have seen more powerful options, but 1.9 autos with this spec seem quite rare.......or am I convincing myself.

Hi Redsheep, welcome to the forum.
I have a 1.9 manual and believe me it is powerful enough, besides if you go too fast people will not be able to see what a beautiful car you have.
Two grand for a good 'un is a bargain, you'll have plenty of smiles per £ with that.

Welcome to the forum, why not drive a few before you commit? The 1.9 is a great car, good luck with the search.

Hi @Redsheep, :welcome: to the forum from me too in Staffordshire. I've never driven a 1.9 but there are plenty of peeps on here who do. £2K seems a good price for what you have described but only you can make the final decision as none of us have seen the car. It does sound like you've made your mind up though. Best of luck;)

Hello and welcome from Truro. I love my auto, but then again, the 2.8 is so torquey you don't need gears =))

Until recently I had a very nice 2.0 Auto, had it for six years and loved it. As Mike said kick down is your friend, . . . . . especially in Sport mode!
Welcome to the forum and enjoy your car, you don't need to get everywhere first!:)

Tony.

Hi from Canada and I have that which you've described except it has beige seat covers. But I have a brand new dark green set I found on eBay for £50. The 1.9 is plenty quick enough and gets over 35 mpg or better. Good luck!! JIM
