Sara's mum and dad are over here from France and Ben surprised me when he said he'd been looking at Z3's over there and how much more expensive they are there than here.
So after a browse through eBay he was quite chuffed when he saw they are much less here.
Today he's been for a test drive in a 1.9 from a garage in Pinxton, but it turned out to be a bit rough .
Not to worry though, another test drive lined up for tomorrow in Newark,a black 1.9.
If any one knows of a good Z3 for sale near us in the Nottingham/ Derby area let us know :).

Hey @Bozzy, it aint much fun driving RHD over here.
I have done it loads of times with LHD in the UK, you get stuck behind trucks and can't overtake because you cant see what the hell you are doing and all the other cars are overtaking you and the truck.

My advice to the old boy, buy one on the mainland even though they are more expensive.....;)

With 1.9s I believe that they can be a bit rough. BMW adjusted the cam timing on some retarding it by a few ° which sacrificed a tiny bit of performance but made the car smoother. This was done under warranty for my car, however the project is naturally a bit rough as it hasn't had that done.

When it comes to engine mechanics I'm not the best person to ask, however I've read online of the above and also have two identical cars with the same engine and one has a slightly rougher idle despite almost all the components being the same.

I'll keep my eye out mate.

Just being honest with you @Faheem young chap, when I got mine, asking price was 9550.
It came from a car collector and I swapped my Merc for it.

Number of people that say in that thread that they too have Z3s that sound like that makes you think they can't all be bad.

When I bought mine, it had 160000 KM on the clock, but as had been said many times on here, makes no difference when the car has been looked after.

The engine in my 1.9 was fine and I've driven several other 1.9 s and liked them all. Also, I lived in Spain for eight years and always had a RHD car. The only slight problem I had was when on my own reaching across the car to pay into toll machines or car parks etc. Obviously a LHD car is better on European roads, but I took the view that secondhand cars were so much cheaper in the UK it was worth the relatively minor inconvenience. I never really found overtaking too much of a problem because I like to be able to see well up the road before pulling out and I don't like to travel too close to the car in front. The fact that most roads in France and Spain are less crowded also helps!
