Hi Everyone!
I thought it was about time to break cover on here - GFR (
www.garyfeakinsracing.co.uk) are behind the technical development of the Z Cars Series and we have built the first cars as pictured;
In response to some of the questions asked I'll do my best to answer a few;
-Venues
We are working on a six round calendar currently, and Silverstone is a possibility for one of the meetings, as well as the fantastic MSV circuits such as Brands Hatch, Oulton Park and Snetterton, of course! A Silverstone Z meet sounds great!
-Weight
Fuel included in 'race ready weight' is 15 Litres. The car weighs 1044kg, less the standard hard top. We are working on a fibreglass roof skin for the Z3 and Z4 to reduce weight and provide readily available roof's, as original Z3 and Z4 hard top's are hard to find.
-Suspension
We have developed a suspension system in co-operation with GAZ Shocks which is readily available for purchase via ourselves (
www.garyfeakinsracing.co.uk). The suspension is to our specification and we are the sole suppliers of this, having carried out all development work to design a suspension system that works well even with open differential cars. A variety of spring rates are available to cater for track day/road dual purpose cars, and fully fledged racers. As stated, UK a manufacturer of these dampers is of great benefit!
-Flywheel
A solid flywheel conversion kit is more suitable to track use, and is mainly for increased reliability.
-Costs
We are finalising the costings, but a self built car is a very cost effective way to go racing. We are offering self build kit's, all the way up to a fully built car. We currently have a total of 20 Z Cars in stock including Z3's and Z4's. More information, costings and final regulations to be released shortly.
