Thanks for your generous offer kind sir ! If your in no rush to get rid of said wheels give me a Couple of weeks mate , moving house tomorrow so can't catch up yet :-( , can I refurbish the wheels in perhaps another finish or they chrome only , I've got axle stands stands if you fancy a trip to or near perth if any use too you. !!
Hi Mini,
I can bring the wheels to you no problem. Probably not till next week though if that's ok.
The wheels are diamond cut finish at present, however as you can see are a bit kerbed and also scratched. I've seen four types of refurb on them,:
Re-cut (Diamond) which is basically running the specialised lathe over them. Whilst that's arguably the best finish, it won't last long on our roads anymore than 1-2 years.
The second finish I've seen was simply powder coated. This was ok, but means if you go all black its crap looking, if you go all silver, then the inside of the wheels have to be silver too so you lose a bit of definition.
The third is painting them yourself, the wheel style lends itself to being rubbed down quite easily, this was what I was planning to do.
The fourth is a higher end type of powder coat which finishes the full wheel very similar to new OEM wheels. To my knowledge only two places in Scotland do it. But it looks really good.
If I was you I would experiment, worse case scenario is you feck them completely and all you've wasted is a wee bit of time.
