Decided to try the wheels I got from mrscalex a while back. I am planning to fully refurb them but curiosity was killing me... What do you guys think? My first impression is that the back is sitting quite high... Do I need lowering springs ?

Have you moved the car since fitting them, as that looks like its waiting for the suspension to settle again after being jacked up.

You need to drive it around the block a few times to settle the suspension again. If these wheels are the same size as previous the gap will be the same. If you've replaced 16" wheels with 17" the gap should be 1/2" less than previous

It was only a test fit and the 16s are now back on. However I didn't take into account that the suspension has to settle after being jacked up. Thank you for the advice.

I was planning to do a suspension refurb as well and I already bought standard shocks and springs . so hopefully I will not need to buy lowering springs too....

Surely the 17s will have lower profile tyres than the 16s? Otherwise the gearing and speedo are going to be out. Definitely went lower profile for the 19s, down to 30 on the rears. And lowering the car is always good.

the tyres will be a different profile to keep the rolling circumference the same.
Going to different size wheels wont give you more or less gap unless the wrong profile tyres are fitted.
Usually after lifting the car up on jacks, it will sit high when you first drop it, until you take the handbrake off and move it

Look like the first Z3 Defender! :)

Mind you, I changed all springs all around on my car, and I think it sits a bit too high now too these days, and I probably should have gone for the 'sport' suspension springs... Even with 18" there's about a 3 finger gap to the top of the wheel arch...

But... not like the 12 inches you get ;-) Go and drive it a bit! MIne took a little while to 'settle'.
