Has anybody recently changed their tyres from run flats to "standard" tyres? If so, what did you go for and were they any good? I need to change my rears before I put it back on the road.

I changed mine on the old Z4 Richard. Not sure if your allowed to change one axle at a time though. I put Falken 453s on it, I found them very good.

My run flats are coming off next week Richard, the 108's came with Goodyear F1 Eagle tyres with nearly new tread, so I can compare soon. Looking forward to seeing the back of the noisy hard run flats TBH.

Tony.

I will need at least new rears on mine after the summer rims have been refurbished. We have been discussing the merits of ditching the run flats but it's just not worth the risk for me. I drive mostly alone on narrow but busy roads where ending up stranded just isn't worth the risk. Maybe one day when I give up the 25 mile commute to work 5 days a week.

I can understand that Gail. It's not such a problem for me as I only use the car for meets etc.

I purchased my tyres from tyreleader.co.uk and a local garage fitted them and was pleased with the service from both companies

Are you on 19" wheels?
The ride on RFTs on 19s is really crashy and unforgiving. We put 17" Winter Sottozero RFTs on @Gail's and it is a much improved ride. Go to go back to the RFTs on 19"s soon though to get the staggered set up back.
Mine came running vred's Ultrac Vorte's on 18" - a much nicer ride and quiet too.

Ian, I'm running 18" wheels at the moment with Goodyear run flats. Are the Ultrac's run flats?

I waited till I got FULL USE out of them first. If they're really SUPPOSED TO BE RUN FLATS THEN................

Take 'em to the limit!!!!!!!!!!!

No - standard tyres. I have a compressor and can of stuff in the boot.
The ultracs get a good write up and reviews and I'm happy with them - I suspect I'll stick with them in the same way I've kept Pirelli Scorpion Zeros on the LR.

@FRANKIE - Gail hasn't seen the ones that came of hers last year. Not quite as bad as yours but one was almost a slick!
Just getting your moneys worth!
To be honest, it wore down much faster than I was expecting. All that burning rubber no doubt!

I have always used goodyear eagle f1's, they are a really good all rounder. I've even used them on the track.

I have Dunlop run flats on 17" rims at the moment. If I was keeping the 17" rims I would consider buying them again. They aren't too bad. When I buy my new 18" rims I'll probably go the Eagle f1 route.

Mine has 17" 225/45 x 17 all round Pete on Bridgestone RF's and they're bloody awful to be honest, hard ride and very noisy. looking forward to putting the F1's on.
Also I went out in my Z3 this afternoon albeit in the rain but I did notice how it turns into corners much sharper than the Z4, so it's either those tyres or I need some K&W kit for it.;)

I put eibach progressive springs on my old z3. It transformed the cars handling.

Having said that, my z4 is fairly sharp in standard form. My only issue is rear end grip but with puny 225 tyres, no Suprise there!

I'm going for Eagle f1's as I need a full set.

I've heard good reviews.

Are they good wearing tyres as well @peteslag ?
