Not all models may have come with the " ie what i would call the start up manual " the short version of the main handbook in the service pack which shows all the basic control stuff like where fuel goes how to turn radio on and turn sound up on one page rather than 30 pages about tuning rds etc i take it this is the book you are after .
If so may be model specific i have 2 z3 both which have all thier documents and one has this kind of short start up manual the other doesn't.

Thanks Steven for your help, even the local dlelership parts department was not sure what I was looking for. Guess I'll be satisfied with the 120 page manual.

Not to beat a dead horse, but: eBay has "2006 owners manual Factory Glove box Book". The leather case is 9-1/2" in length. So the book is probably approximately 8-1/2" in length.
It has different photo on front cover than the manual.

As far as I'm aware it was cosmetic (body) differences, that's all.

Found 2nd 136 page "manual" for 2005 Z4 3.0 has more info than 120 page manual, not exactly my car, different engine but all the rest is the same...learning lots.
