Hello and welcome from Surrey, I agree with the previous comments about the engine, much easier to just buy a bigger engined model. What is wrong with the wishbone? As the Z3 is E36 based, it is possible to replace the ball joints instead of the whole thing. :welcome:

Hi @Suzukibyker, :welcome: to the forum from me too in Staffordshire. I'm with the consensus here, sell this one on and get a Zed with a bigger engine. Much easier:thumbsup:

Bobby basic!
Hi and welcome, I did indeed look into transplanting a 2.8 lump in my 2.0 but you also need the stronger gear box and LSD, so I sold it for just under 4k and bought a 2.8 for £700, now that makes sense :D
Blimey, I thought this 1.9 was a bargain?!

It’s detached at chassis end, recovery guy stuck a bolt through to get it off the lorry but it still flops around like the unmentionables!

I still haven’t looked to be honest, I’ve been flat out this week so hoping to give it the proper check over at the weekend

? And indeed? Not the best of starts. Lucky these things are easy to fix.

Take some pictures of the offending items Dave and let's have a butchers mate.

Tony.

Hi guys,

Still feeling sick for selling my E46 330i convertible last year so needed a new toy!

Just picked up an absolute base model 1.8 Z3 in silver for £400. Body work and hood are good, but it’s all a bit uninspiring!

MOT until March, just needs a wishbone apparently (if it’s anything like the E46 ones that’ll be fun ) so at least I can take the kids out in it. My toddler gets as excited by a Mondeo as he does a Lamborghini! Doesn’t care as long as it got an engine!

Any way, I’m aware these aren’t really an investment at this level, but I’m planning on some basic mods early on to get a big engine in there and upgrade the wheels & handling.

Engine wise I’m thinking the quickest route to a 6 pot (assuming 328 engine/donor car would be easiest, but haven’t researched yet)

Look forward to chatting to some of you along the way and picking up some pearls of wisdom

Please feel free to point me in the direction of your favourite threads to save me repeating questions, I’ll have a good search too.

Dave
