Hello from the U.S. My wife and I just joined Zroadster.org. My wife owns a 1996 Z3 and tells all of our friends that she loves that car more than she loves me. :) We're looking for someone to answer a question for us, please. My wife has decided to put a hard top on the 1996 roadster. From a private seller, we found a 2001 Z3 hard top which includes all of the mounting hardware, liner, and defroster. Will the 2001 hard top fit our 1996 roadster? Also, a local and very reputable import shop that does our maintenance on my wife's 96, has told us they will install the new hard top for $300. Are there any other parts that we should buy before having the hard top installed on our 1996? Thanks for the help.

:welcome: The hardtop will fit fine. As long as it has a complete fitting kit its all striaght forward. If you ok with a spanner its not from what i gather a hard job to do yourself.
You just need 2 people to put the top on.

Hi and welcome from Camberley UK. Fitting the hardtop is quite simple really, although the write up specifies BMW special tools, they are not essential. The hardtop will fit any Z3.:)
